Who’s afraid of red white?

The white-red-white flag of the Belarusian People’s Republic rose in prominence to become a symbol of the 2020 protest movement. This collection of images documents state attempts to suppress the use of the flag, juxtaposed with its increasingly creative use by protestors. Each photograph tells a story about the tactics and aspirations of Belarusian protestors, asking what makes the flag such a threat to the Lukashenko regime.
